Pakistan Cricket Team Cleared from Oval ODI Match Fixing Allegations

Finally there is good news for cricket lovers in Pakistan after many controversies and bad news. ICC clears Pakistan cricket team from the allegations of match fixing in the ODI against England played on September 17 at Oval. ICC said that their investigation regarding the allegations of match-fixing at Oval was complete and they didn’t find anything in the allegations. But this clearance of ICC is only about Oval ODI and not about spot-fixing allegation in Lord’s Test match.

Pakistan ODI and T20 Skipper Shahid Afridi expressed his happiness after the announcement of ICC in following words: “I am very happy after hearing the news. I had and will always have full confidence in my team that they will not do anything like that”. Pakistan cricket team coach Waqar Yonis also expressed his satisfaction and pleasure by saying that: “It is very good news for Pakistan cricket. I sincerely hope that all spot-fixing cases are solved soon because they have tarnished Pakistan’s reputation”. No doubt it is good news for Pakistan cricket but it shows incompetence of PCB in handling these recent crises. It also shows the bias of English media towards Pakistan cricket team. Now is the time that PCB should act strongly and take legal actions against those who blamed Pakistan cricket team for fixing Oval ODI. The case of spot-fixing at Lord’s Test also needs special attention and efforts of PCB which is still going on and three talented Pakistani cricketers are facing indefinite ban form international cricket.
