Pakistani
legend Wasim Akram is judging the show Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena,
and we spoke to him about his
experience on reality TV.
“When they first told me this was a dance reality show, I
asked them what I was going to do on this show. When they
said there would be six cricketers and I would be judging
them, I was less circumspect," he said.
"Believe me I really had a blast and great fun watching the
boys'performances. Working with Sushmita was exceptional. I
enjoyed it; she is very professional, very helpful and down
to earth,” said Wasim. |
About
his own performance with Udita Goswami he
says: "Give a cricketer time to do
anything and he will do it.
But it is very difficult to dance. I do
not know any dancing, but eventually I
learnt a bit. I went for practice and
asked a few things of Sushmita - she
helped me a lot. I was there to just have
laugh and nobody was judging it!"
Speaking of the cricketers on the show he
said: "It takes nerve for them to come on
stage and perform in front of so many
people. And this is not 30 seconds of
performance mind you - they need to
perform to an entire song. I really do not
know how they are handling this pressure.
You ask them anything about cricket and
they will do it very casually, but dancing
is a different ball game altogether!"
Asked whether we would see more of him on
the small screen, Wasim said: “I do not
know my future on Indian television but
yes it does give you lots of attention."
"I landed in Delhi yesterday and everyone
from customs onward asked me about the
show. When I was at Lord's before that too
people came up to me to speak about it,"
said Wasim, admitting to the overdose of
reality shows on TV.
"There are too many reality shows,
especially in India. But if you will see
the same pattern on all of them then we
tend to get bored."
So who's Wasim's favourite on the show? "Harbhajan
is a friend but they are all good.
Sreesanth is a particularly strong
contender."
Wasim said he enjoyed flirting with
Sushmita but added: "My wife too likes
watching the show!" |
