The Samsung S5600 that we recently reported on and this the Samsung S5230 are two new full-touch screen mobile phones from the Korean manufacturer which are soon to be available in Europe. Both run the TouchWiz user interface enabling users to customize and personalize the way in which they use their mobile phone using selected features such as mobile widgets and photo contact.
Whilst the Samsung S5600 offers a large 2.8? TFT touchscreen display the S5230 offers an even bigger 3.0? touchscreen complete with WQVGA resolution, built-in accelerometer sensor, Gesture lock and added handwriting recognition accompanying the Qwerty soft keyboard.
They both feature microSDHC card expansion supporting up to 8GB of additional memory and a 3.15 mega pixel fixed focus camera with smile detection and video capture at 15fps, but if you want 3G connectivity and HSDPA High Speed Data then you’re better off going for the Samsung S5600 rather than the S5230 as it only offers 2.5G connectivity quad band GSM with GPRS and EDGE data.
Other similarities shared between the two handsets are the embedded stereo FM Radio with RDS support, Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0. The Samsung S5230 also includes built-in access to Google Search and Google GMail plus Shazam’s Find Music service and improved sound quality with DNSe support.
Shipment of the Samsung S5230 is expected to start April 2009 with France and other European countries getting first dibs but there’s still no word on pricing. |
