Scorpions Information With Pictures

Scorpions
Scorpions live mainly in the warmer parts of the world. They are rarely seen, as they are solitary animals which hide during the daytime and come out at night to hunt.
They feed chiefly on insects and other small creatures, which they kill using their large claws to tear them apart. If the prey resists, the scorpion uses the poisonous sting at the end of its tail. The sting is also used in defence against larger enemies such as monkeys. Their poison can be dangerous to human beings as well.
During the breeding season scorpions have an elaborate pattern of courtship before Mating, this looks like a dance as the male guides the female over his sperm.
Young scorpions are born alive, one or two at a time, over several weeks. The baby Scorpions ride on their mother’s back for protection, until they moult their skin for the first time.
