Flu. Its causes, symptoms, treatment and tips
What is Flu?
Flu is a viral disease and it often hits in winter from October to March in
Asian Countries. The flu
virus may be classified as either Influenza A, B or C. The Indians are more
susceptible to flu during
winter season so one should be careful about this disease.
Causes of Flu?
It is caused due to deficiency of vitamin c. Also it can be caused due to
leans of a person. If a
person is too weak or not healthy then this viral disease can hit more
regularly specially during the
cold or winter season. People of all ages can get the flu. Children, the
elderly and people with
weakened immune systems are most susceptible and more likely to have serious
complications.
Symptoms of Flu?
1. Fever and Chills
Fever is the most notable thing to diagnose flu. Fever is almost always present
with the flu and it
usually hits suddenly. When you have a high fever, you are also likely to experience chills. The higher
your body temperature, the colder the air will feel. This is the reason that
people with a fever try to
layer on clothing and blankets, although doing so will only make the problem
worse.
2. Exhaustion
Overall feeling of being completely exhausted. You probably will be unable to
perform daily activities.
This exhaustion is much more pronounced than the tiredness you may feel from a
cold. 3. Aches and Pains
One of the most common descriptions people give when they have the flu is
"achy". Your muscles are
usually very sore and moving around too much causes discomfort.
4. Congestion
This is found with both the common cold and flu, but is accompanied by other
symptoms when you have the
flu.
5. Headache
Headaches are common with the flu and can be quite severe. Like the rest of
your body, the head will
ache when you have the flu.
6. Coughing
May be productive (producing mucous) or non-productive, but is usually a dry
cough. If you develop a
productive cough and fever, you should contact your doctor. |
Quick Tips to slow down the spread of Flu?
1. Try to wash you hands frequently so that you can avoid this fatal disease.
This is the single most
important step to preventing the spread of disease and staying healthy.
2. Eating a well-balanced diet, getting regular exercise and taking a daily
multivitamin boosts your immune
system so you will be less likely to get sick.
3. Vitamins can't replace the nutrients we get from a well-balanced diet.
Unless you are in certain
categories of people that need a daily multivitamin, it won't do much for
your overall health.
4. Drinking plenty of water will keep you well hydrated. Proper hydration is
essential to a strong immune
system and will help you feel better as well.
5. Stay away from sick people who have a fever; this is when they are most
contagious.
6. Quitting smoking has been proven to improve your overall health and immunity
within just a few weeks and
the benefits only get better over time. So, now is the time to quit.
Treatment of Flu?
1.
Use vitamin c tablets to reduce the deficiency of it. This can relief you
from this disease a bit.
2. Visit the doctor to get properly checked and take medicine regularly.
3. There is no cure for the flu. There are some prescription antiviral
medications, such as Tami flu (TM),
that may help shorten the duration of the illness. However, Tami flu (TM) is
only effective if taken
within the first two days of the onset of symptoms. Your doctor will
determine if these medications are
right for you.
